Description

The shape of the Jinglan teapot translates to Well Fence. This was a popular type of teapot in the Qing Dynasty, long history has brought many changes and variations to this shape.

In the beginning the teapots were smooth, completely without patterns, later they began to be decorated with flowers, poetry, calligraphy and landscapes.

One day, the emperor stopped by his court painter and asked if there would be new teapots in the near future. Man Sheng shook his head and said: “Recently was busy looking for an idea, I never found one!”. The ruler said: “Don’t be annoyed! Everything can be turned into a teapot!”. At that moment, the maid came to draw water from the well and leaned over the high hedge, her slim waist curved to resemble the handle of a teapot and the railing of the well into the body of a teapot.

Mang Sheng looked at the ruler and immediately understood everything. He took a quill and ink pen and drew some teapots on the stone table. The two looked at each other and laughed.

The meaning of this kettle: a deep well is like a sea of books and mountains, and knowledge is like water from a well. It is inexhaustible. He says to the world: knowledge is like the water necessary for life.

This kettle has a perfectly lapped lid and an equally perfect drain. The handle is exquisitely shaped and fits comfortably in your hand.
