Description

Chic tall drinking glasses with thick walls for the warmest of teas

Green Qing Qi glaze was and is highly valued in aristocratic circles. The sages of the Tang Dynasty believed that different shades of green had a beneficial effect on the drink, filling it with benevolent Qi energy. This color is similar to jade (the most expensive stone in China).

The walls of the cup are profusely covered with craquelure cracks. Over time, the cracks will be tinted with tea. This technique dates back to the Jin Dynasty (265-376 AD) and its heyday was the Yuan Dynasty (1127-1368 AD). It was during this period that the city of Lung Quan became a center for the production of celadon utensils.

Celadon is the name given to Qing Qi green-glazed pottery in Europe.

These drinking bowls have three features:

  • thick walls do not heat up as quickly and retain heat
  • winter cup shape (when the walls of the bowl do not spread out like a flower, but instead flow inwards). The aroma does not escape, but remains inside the bowl
  • The fascinating color of the bowl – a special reveals the drink, with such a bowl just do not want to part 🙂

Similarly shaped pialas are also available in 100ml miniature.
