Description
A light blue teapot (the color of a clear sky) made of thick-walled porcelain, coated with Celadon glaze. Made in traditional Chinese style.
The nature-inspired aesthetics, simplicity, elegance and high practical value of celadon tableware remain relevant to this day and attract increased attention from connoisseurs and admirers of fragile luxury.
The history of the Chinese celadon Qing Ci (Chinese: 青瓷, pinyin qīngcí) dates back to the era of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. Created in the 13th-12th centuries BC, it achieved its greatest popularity during the reign of the Song emperors. Literally translated, 青瓷 means “greenish porcelain.” The jade glaze made it one of the most recognizable and, as the ancient Chinese said, “the best under heaven.”
Chinese glazed porcelain molding dough is made from white clay (kaolin) with the addition of fine mineral powder. Celadon glaze contains iron oxide as a coloring component. At a firing temperature of +1300°C, it gives the products greenish shades of varying intensity. And gas bubbles and light-refracting microscopic quartz crystals, due to repeated glazing, add a spectacular wet glow.
