Classic shape of the teapot 石瓢 “Shi Piao” – stone ladle.

The progenitor of this form is the ancient “Diao” ladleknown since the Tang Dynasty. “Diao” was used mainly for preparing medicines and boiling herbal mixtures. This vessel was made from different materials: stone, metal, clay. Subsequently, they began to attach a lid to the ladle and the scope of application of this vessel expanded! In the 16th century the popularity of Tea reached its peak, and the need for tea utensils appeared! And so the “jisha” masters developed a new form of Yixing teapot, based on the shape of the diao ladle, which has proven itself to be excellent!
