Tea ceremony in Japan is understood as “the way of tea”, “the art of tea”. For the Japanese themselves, the ceremony is not just a way of brewing tea properly. It is a distinctive and unique art.
The Japanese tea ceremony is an action unparalleled in any other country.
The tea ceremony is an integral attribute of Japanese culture and is closely related to many other cultural phenomena. Tea ceremony is a deliberately organized and orderly meeting of the master – tea master – and his guests for joint relaxation, enjoyment of beauty, conversation, accompanied by tea drinking. The ceremony is held in a specially equipped place and consists of several actions performed in strict order.
For centuries, the tea ceremony has been an important attribute for the conversations of Japanese philosophers and artists. Over tea, wise speeches were made, poems were recited, and works of art were viewed. Tea ceremony time is a time of relaxation from everyday life.
The Japanese tea school is conducted by senior students of the Ukrainian school of “shanoyu” – Japanese tea action, direction “Urasenke” – Tatiana Glotova and Oksana Yakubinskaya.
