Xiao Hong Pao – the famous younger brother of Da Hong Pao tea! Xiao Hong Pao literally translates to “Little Red Robe.” In terms of quality and processing technology, it is in no way inferior to the Big Red Robe. After the mother bushes of Da Hong Pao came under cultural protection in China, tea production from these bushes ceased. Breeders began developing a new variety more resistant to temperature fluctuations and weather conditions. The first result of their efforts was Xiao Hong Pao in the 1980s. Therefore, Little Red Robe is a modern chapter in the history of the famous Yan Cha rock tea from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province.
